5th Street SE "Bump" Gardens

Since 2007, MHNA volunteers have adopted one of our 18 corner, "bump-out" flower gardens along historic 5th Street SE each season. While MHNA provides expertise, plants and mulch, nearby property owners provide water.

In 2015, Bump Gardens have been adopted by: Ted Tucker, Ruth Eggert, Melanie Burns, Melissa Bean, Jeff Watson, Mary Korsmo, Kim Renneberg, Jim Eischens, Larry Prinds, Sandy Dekker, Marnie Loven-Bell & Sally French, Chris Kloecker, Johanna Fajado, Brad Schumann & First Congregational Church, Tom Lincoln and Margo Roberts.

8th Street SE / 10th Avenue SE Community Flower Garden

Established in 2000, volunteers plant and maintain a large flower garden at the corner of 8th Street SE and 10th Avenue SE. Each week, a volunteer adopts the garden and  is responsible for watering, weeding and dead-heading. In return for their effort, adopters are welcome to take home a bouquet. Our Marcy-Holmes Community Garden decorative garden sign was created in 2003 by local artists Marlaine Cox and Melissa Bean. Water for the this garden is provided by Matcom, Inc.

Please sign up to volunteer for a week of care at this valuable and highly visible community amenity!

MHNA has won numerous Metro Blooms-Blooming Boulevards gardening awards. To learn more, call the MHNA office at: (612) 623-7633.
