MEET UP: Little Birdy Project

MEET UP: Little Birdy Project
Monday, December 3, 2018, 6 - 7 pm
Machine Shop | 300 2nd Street SE

MHNA’s year-long, Little Birdy Project explores the power a positive word makes in the community by posting signs around the neighborhood that are printed with one positive word. The first sign highlights the word IMAGINE.

Little Birdy seeks to engage community and foster connections among neighbors and residents.

Our goal is to engage the community in one to one discussions and to foster connections among neighbors and residents. We are hoping to get people talking - in their homes, yards, sidewalks, places of worship, restaurants, coffee shops, banks, parks, etc. The Little Birdy signs are meant to get people thinking and talking, not in a combative way but rather a decent, gentle, over-the-fence conversational way. The vitality and security of a neighborhood truly depends on having closer human connections, and we hope that the Little Birdy Project will be that goal starter!

MEET UP @ MACHINE SHOP

In this first meet-up, we will give people an opportunity to explore the relevance of the word, IMAGINE, in community life.

Here, we can explore questions, such as:

  • What matters most to you in life?
  • Who are your heroes? And why?
  • Have you been someone’s hero?
  • What did you imagine your life to be 5 years ago?
  • Did you reach your imagination? Did you go past your imagination?
  • What do you imagine the next 5 years to be?
  • Can a community imagine together?
  • Have you been a part of a community imagination project before? What was the outcome?
  • What is the difference between imagining, dreaming, creating? Is there a difference?
  • Do you see yourself as a dreamer? A doer? A helper? A leader? A follower?
  • What keeps you from following your dreams? Helping another? Leading a group?
