For the past twenty years, Marcy Holmes resident Melissa Carden Bean has been doing commercial artwork for individuals and businesses. Jobs have included commercial and residential signage, a state fair booth, magazine illustration, people and pet ceramic portrait sculptures, and paintings. This painting shows the exterior of her house in winter and was painted for a Christmas card. Her husband, Scott, is welcoming people into their home, their basset hound, Katie Rose, is in the snow and an old car is in the driveway. The steeple of First Congregational Church can be seen in the background. The lights are on in their third floor studio and twinkle lights are strung up on the porch - a scene that in its entirety, according to Bean, " tries to convey the warmth of a home, a time, and place."
