MHNA By-law Amendment Vote • October 16, 2018

MHNA has received a proposed amendment to our by-laws. In accordance with our policy, this item will come for a vote at the October 16, 2018 General Membership meeting, 6:30 pm, at the Machine Shop, 300 2nd Street SE. This is your official notification of that meeting.
 
Only current MHNA members are eligible to vote. Members must be present to vote. Members must show a photo id containing current neighborhood residence address. An individual who resides within the neighborhood boundaries and who is a current member (on membership list) but lacks the identification above, may vote if a member who has the required documentation vouches for the individual. A person wishing to join the MHNA as a new member at the meeting must fill out a membership form and present proof of current residency.

All of MHNA board and membership meetings are open to the public and attendees are allowed to participate in debates. The Board of Directors has reviewed the proposed change to ensure it complies with legal and organizational mission requirements.


PROPOSED AMENDMENT


Currently, Article VIII of the By-laws, regarding Meetings of the Association, reads:

Section 1.  There shall be at least two regular meetings of the association each year, one in June and one in October. The October meeting shall be the annual meeting at which the election of officers and certain directors shall be held and annual reports made. Special meetings may be called by the president or the board of directors, or by petition signed by at least twenty-five (25) members eligible to vote. At least five days’ notice of all meetings shall be given.  The time, date and place of all meetings shall be set forth in the notice of meeting.

The motion that will be made at the October General Membership Meeting will read:
 
Resolved, Article VIII (Meetings of the Association) of the By-Laws is revised to read:
